Abstract

The inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) are chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disorders, including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD). IBD results from a complex interplay between environmental, microbial, and genetic factors to create an abnormal immunological response leading to intestinal inflammation.
