Alimentiv, Inc., Formerly Robarts Clinical Trials Launches New Brand Today

London, ON, CANADA, Release: June 16, 2020 – Alimentiv, Inc. formerly Robarts Clinical Trials, announced today a major rebranding to reflect the company’s continued growth as a specialized global gastrointestinal (GI) contract research organization (CRO).

Jeff Smith, CEO, made the announcement at Alimentiv’s inaugural live stream event featuring keynote speakers: William Sandborn, Professor of Medicine, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, Vice Chair for Clinical Operations, Department of Medicine, Director, UCSD IBD Center, UC San Diego Health System, Duncan Hall, CEO, and Founder of TRI – The RBQM Company and Brian G. Feagan, MD, FRCPC – Senior Scientific Director at Alimentiv and Professor of Medicine at Western University

Alimentiv will continue its innovative work in clinical trials, imaging, and precision medicine for GI diseases. The Alimentiv CRO will operate under the Alimentiv Health Trust – a unique, social enterprise structure whose purpose is to Transform Human Health by building enduring businesses that prioritize research and the best interests of its employees. The CRO will continue to fund academic research on a global scale.

We are excited to move forward as Alimentiv. Under the Alimentiv Health Trust, we remain a commercial venture driven by purpose, putting people first and profitable growth. We are excited about our expansion to new markets and the opportunity we have to continue to prioritize our vision of building a leading GI clinical drug development organization that accelerates discovery through the delivery of our range of services and continued investment in academic research,” said Jeff Smith, CEO of Alimentiv. “Operating within the Trust our business has the privilege to grow with a 100-year perspective, where the measure of success is not the value created by an exit, but rather the value created by fulfilling our purpose.”

Alimentiv’s predecessor, Robarts Clinical Trials (RCT), was formed in 1986 as a unit of Robarts Research Institute at Western University. Following its transition to a wholly-owned global subsidiary of Western University in 2012, RCT realized significant growth culminating in the transition of ownership from Western University to the Health Trust in 2018. Today’s announcement to rebrand to Alimentiv was done to align with the corporate vision going forward.

Gusty Walk Corporate Team

IBD Eliminators

The IBD Eliminators are extremely honoured to be featured as the Corporate Team for the Gutsy Walk! Our team has included the dedicated employees of Alimentiv Clinical Trials, and we have been lucky to have supportive friends and family join us in the walk as well.

Back in 2017, a representative from Crohn’s & Colitis Canada came into Alimentiv Clinical Trials and gave us an amazing challenge – to participate as a team in the Gutsy Walk. 4 years later, we are still proudly continuing with this challenge with over 30 team members every year, and over $10,000 raised for each walk.

A huge part of what makes our team so inspired and excited to participate, is due to our organization’s main focus on IBD research and clinical trial services to help those living with the disease. A few of our own employees live with this every day, and we strive to create the most supportive working family. Our employees have become so passionate about the Gutsy Walk, including one of our star fundraisers, Michelle Lazure. She has always been proactive in preparing for this event and is always the top fundraiser on our team. Also joining us this year for the first time is Jess Green, one of Alimentiv’s employees who joined the company in August of 2019. Jess was first diagnosed with Crohn’s in Spring of 2015 and has also participated in clinical trials to assist in finding treatment options for herself and others living with Crohn’s.

Jess Green

“I’m looking forward to participating in my first Gutsy walk, and really taking the time to support and give back to my community. I’m incredibly proud to be working somewhere that directly impacts people with CD and UC. It feels great to know that Alimentiv is so committed to the cause. Everyone is so supportive here and it’s exciting to think that the whole company is engaged to participate. I’m hoping we have a successful walk and beat all our fundraising goals!”

We are excited to continue fundraising and beat our goals again for 2020!

Alimentiv COVID-19 Announcement

Alimentiv’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how we are still working to provide safe, quality service to our partners, sponsors, vendors and investigators.

March 24, 2020

To Our Valued Sponsors,

Now, two weeks into pandemic action planning, I am proud of the proactive and constructive work our Alimentiv staff has demonstrated in implementing continuity plans and I’m confident we are well prepared to manage important work over the coming weeks and months.

We recognize the situation with Covid-19 is dynamic and that there is high potential for significant challenge ahead as the impact on the world-wide clinical research infrastructure deepens.

With a commitment to keeping people healthy through physical distancing, Alimentiv supports investigators, hospitals, laboratories, and most importantly, patients as they drastic measures to suppress infection rates.

Alimentiv has adapted our operations quickly to meet the challenge.

  • Our efforts to be agile and responsive will not undermine our focus on quality; our study teams are working hand-in-hand with QA to assess risks and document proper courses of action
  • Our ‘work-from-home-force’ is fully operational and engaged
  • We have suspended all travel and are implementing remote monitoring in coordination with sponsors and sites
  • Alimentiv’s cross-functional Pandemic Response Team is monitoring daily updates and assessing impact to our work daily; they are coordinating with our study management and operations leadership to model scenarios, build strategies and implement appropriate actions
  • An established communication strategy is in place that includes weekly outreach to all our sponsors, Investigators, vendors and, of course, our staff globally

While we have successfully relocated 95% of our global employees to work from home, our Logistics team has remained in our Canadian and Netherlands offices to ensure equipment required for trials continues to be staged and shipped. Together with our shipping partners they have ensured the delivery of hundreds of imaging kits to sites over the past 2 weeks.

At noon on March 23, the Premier of Ontario (the province in which our logistics operation is headquartered), announced emergency measures to further control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These measures include the shutdown of all non-essential services and business for at least the next 14 days. We are pleased to report that research services are considered essential and so there will be no interruption to our logistics services.

Our culture is what makes Alimentiv great. In these times of uncertainty our people are standing up, putting their best foot forward, and leaning on each other for support.

We continue to assess and respond to the dynamic impact of COVID-19 on our business continuity and remain committed to providing safe, quality service to our partners, sponsors, vendors and investigators.
